We all should strive to be like the Bereans who receive the Word with all readiness of mind, but search the Scriptures daily to see whether these things be so.

Several small churches from the Middle Ages are here but we stopped at a more modern plaza commemorating Berea’s brief but highly significant place in the life of the early church. According to tradition, it is THE spot where Paul taught. One part of a mural depicts Paul receiving the Macedonian call, while another part depicts the Bereans receiving Paul’s message. In the Mosaic, note the mixture of Jews and Greeks, as well as scrolls and a book depicting the Word that they searched.

Next we began the long journey to Athens.

We passed by or near a number of historically significant places including Mt. Olympus, the home of the Greek gods, Delphi, and Thermopylae on our way to Athens.
